How We Charge for Moving and Packing Services
We offer both fixed price quotes and hourly rates depending on the type of move and the information available. Our goal is to give you an accurate estimate and complete your move efficiently, with no surprises or hidden costs.
Hourly Rates and Fixed Price Quotes
Depending on the nature of your move, we may offer either a fixed price quote or an hourly rate estimate. Generally speaking, we’re an hourly service but it all depends on your requirements.
Fixed price quotes provide certainty when the scope of the move is clear.
Hourly rates are commonly used where the exact time required cannot be known in advance. This is very common with troublesome or slow access. Apartment to apartment moves or 150 + stairs for a 3-bedroom house.
We record out time using our in-house service application and record our time in 15-minute intervals, so you are only billed for actual time worked on the day.
What Determines the Cost of Your Move
The cost of your move depends mainly on:
Load size – How much needs to be moved.
Access – Stairs, steep driveways, lifts and parking access.
Preparation – How ready everything is when we arrive.
Driving time – the distance between properties.
Travel fee
A travel fee is added to each move and covers us getting to you from our depot and paying staff in between jobs. It can often be referred to as a “call-out” fee in other trades.
NOTE: Depot to depot seems more common these days but not for us. Our quoted (fixed price) approach ensures you, our customers aren’t penalised for unnecessary delays like traffic, road works, stopping to fuel up or have a break. This avoids any surprises and is more transparent for you, and for us.
Travel time will be advised when we provide our estimate.
Service Time
Service time is charged at the agreed rates and is calculated in 15-minute intervals, so you are only billed for time worked
Our team works efficiently to complete your move safely and as quickly as possible.
Mileage
A mileage fee is added for longer distance out on town moves. This cost will be advised at the time of booking.
Mileage covers vehicle operating costs including road user charges, maintenance and insurance.
Heavy or Specialist Items
Heavy or specialist items may require a heavy item fee. This will be advised at the time of booking and covers paying our specialist staff extra time on their day for the training and risk involved.
Packing Materials and Other Costs
Packing materials or any other necessary additional costs will be clearly advised in your estimate. Any materials used are recorded and added to the final bill. Please speak to us before booking for any tips and recommendations to keep costs down for you.
How We Invoice
We invoice on completion of the job. Our timing is recorded using our in-house service application.
Payment Terms
Payment is due on completion of the service.
